After a summer of building and selling dining room tables for various people, it was time to make a table for our house.
The previous tables I made were out of solid, southern yellow pine. Now, there is nothing wrong with southern yellow pine, however for our own table, I decided to go with a higher quality hardwood. This table is made out of solid mahogany [for the record, I got a really good deal on the mahogany
).
First came the framing.
Then the sanding.
Finally, a very dark kona stain with 4 coats of high gloss polyurethane.
Luckily, I finished in time for the wife to decorate for Christmas.
We are really please with the way it turned out and look forward to many dinners on to it for years to come.
