Round five: BOOKSHELVES.
As you may have noticed, there was not a lot of time between projects…that’s for sure! Only about a week had passed since installing the new stained concrete floors (which you can read about here) and the wife and I decided it was time to ditch the mismatched, store bought, PLAM bookshelves and install some of the custom/built-in variety in the office. Not only would this enhance the aesthetics of the office, but if you know me personally, you might have guessed I was running out of space for my growing library!
Working in construction, I know the value of having a solid plan. So on Friday night, I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning, drafting the design below.
After a trip to Home Depot, I had all my materials and started getting to work.
A few days later the shelves started really taking shape.
My wife applied the final coat of paint and categorized & alphabetized all my books. We chose black to match the desk and other furniture in the room. Not to mention, it helps hide my inadequacy as a carpenter!
All in all, we think it turned out pretty nice. I think without a doubt it helps clean the room up while giving me an excuse to buy more books!
